To no one’s surprise, breakout playoff star Bismack Biyombo has declined his $3-million player option from the Toronto Raptors, Basketball Insiders’ Eric Pincus reports.
The backup center posted an unremarkable average of 5.5 points, eight rebounds, and 1.6 blocks during the season, but it was his postseason play when filling in for an injured Jonas Valanciunas that has put him on the radar of many teams.
With the league salary cap about to experience a significant bump, the Raptors will be hard-pressed to retain Biyombo who is reportedly set to earn as much as $17-million per year.
